Funerals of Kings Essays -- Literary Analysis, Beowulf
Beowulf starts with the death of Shield a great king in the eyes of the Geats, it also ends with the death of Beowulf. These funerals are similar in many ways. These funerals can be a reflection of the lives these kings lived because each king had his own way he wanted to be remembered. These funerals both involve huge amounts of treasures being loaded on to ships or back in to the ground and how the Geat people mourned for the loss of the kings.â⬠¨ Treasures were used to gain loyalty from other men in Geat ââ¬Å"steadfast companions will stand by himâ⬠(Beowulf 23). Theses ââ¬Å"steadfast companionsâ⬠(Beowulf 23) help the king survive and help conquer lands and allowing a king to stay in power. In the end of this poem even those gifts will not get the support Beowulf needs. The treasure that was laid on the boat for Shield was ââ¬Å"Far-fetched treasures / were piled upon him, and precious gearâ⬠(Beowulf 36-37) A ââ¬Å"far-fetched treasureâ⬠(Beow ulf 36) would be some of the rarest in the world. Shield has told his men to ââ¬Å"Shoulder him out to seaââ¬â¢s floodâ⬠(Beowulf 30) The boat they put him in was ââ¬Å"A ring-whorled prow rode in the harbor, / ice-clad, outbound, a craft for a princeâ⬠(Beowulf 32-33). The description of the boat I think shows the honor that the Geatââ¬â¢s wanted to show their kings and how ornate they make things. At Beowulfââ¬â¢s funeral at the end of the poem they build a great pyre ââ¬Å"The Geat people built a pyre for Beowulf, / stacked and decked it until it stood foursquare.â⬠(Beowulf 3137-38). The pyre is like the boat in the first funeral the boat is built ornately and to stand the test of time. The pyre is built to be tall and strong very similar to the boat. ââ¬Å"hung with helmets, heavy war-shields / and shining armor, just as he had ... ...going or where the ââ¬Å"to wind and tide, bewailing himâ⬠(Beowulf 49). They built a memorial on the high grounds letting all that can see know that a great king laid there. All the treasure that had been found in the cave where the dragon had stayed was put back in to the ground where the memorial is. ââ¬Å"They let the ground keep that ancestral treasure / gold under gravel,â⬠(Beowulf 3166-67). These treasures had been around for ages and ages, gold is taken from the ground and in the end put back in to the ground. These kings have thought about how they wanted to be remembered by the people of the time. Their funerals reflected back on their lives, through the gold that was laid on to Shields ship and that was put in the memorial on the coast for Beowulf. Works Cited Greenblatt, Stephen. Some disadvantages are people may disregard the survey, answers may be careless just get the promo or offer, surveys may be sent directly to junk mail. b) Some advantages of an online survey of Carmex Facebook likers are The people that fill out the Facebook surveys actually know the products, they arenââ¬â¢t just completing for the free stuff, responses will come directly from product users, surveys will not get lost in spam or junk mail. Some disadvantages would be that it does not cover a wide customer base and the survey will only increase engagement and not likes Question #2 a) On a Facebook brand page, ââ¬Å"engagementâ⬠measures how much activity is being made by its Facebook audience with a certain brand which is measured through posting a comment, liking a status or by replying to one of the posts on brand page. On the other hand ââ¬Å"likesâ⬠measures the number of new likers or the size of the audience on Facebook b) For Carmex engagement is more important because it means its current likers are interested in learning about the company by interacting with posts Carmex makes by replying and liking their posts. Carmex would appreciate this because it shows customer interest and brand loyalty. c) Question #3 a) Consumers having the ability to engage with a brand they like and having the chance to create their own opinion about the products they sell will create activity between the user and the brand page. Engagements on a brand page like Facebook are evoked by making sure those opinions count and are heard, as well as by posting content to attract consumers and give them a chance to engage further b) To attract like to a brand page on Facebook you could give out prizes, have a contest that requires user to like the page, and offer coupons that offer a better deal than whatââ¬â¢s already in the market. Question #4 a) The advantages of a fixed alternative poll question on Facebook are the questions tend to be short and can be answered quickly, you can keep anonymous, more people may answer as it only takes a click. b) I think it would be best to use an open ended question when you are trying to get opinions on the company or products that could range from a variety of answers from a range of different users. This will allow the consumers to speak freely and give them the flexibility to write whatever they want Question #5 a) If I had a limited budget a time I would choose a poll only strategy because it has low cost and set-up associated with it. All you have to do is post the poll to the Facebook brand page and wait for users to respond, which will happen quickly. The last step would be to collect your data. b) On the other hand, If I had a higher budget and more time I would choose the contest only strategy because the results would be more rewarding. Promoting the contest will drive customers to participate, involving prizes will make the users take it more seriously, and they will result in more accurate and realistic answers.

What Was the Main Cause of the Financial Crisis in 2007-2009
The intention of this essay is to provide an in depth and critical analysis of the financial crisis that took place between 2007-2009, in particular focusing on some key issues raised by the Foote, Gerardi and Willen paper ââ¬ËWhy did so many people make so many Ex Post bad decisions?ââ¬â¢ Whilst there were many contributing factors, it is clear that a specific few played a particularly dominant role, primarily the ââ¬ËBubble Theoryââ¬â¢, irresponsible regulation, toxic CDOââ¬â¢s and $62 trillion of CDSââ¬â¢s. ââ¬ËThatââ¬â¢s what bubbles are: theyââ¬â¢re examples of mass delusionsââ¬â¢ (Norcera, 2011). Bubble theoryââ¬â¢s are by no means a new school of thought, in fact they date back to the Dutch Tulip bubble in the 1630ââ¬â¢s and it is these types of bubble that are believed, byâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Even the largest of investment banks such as Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley were so confident in their products that they too maintained large holdings of ââ¬Ësuper seniorââ¬â¢ tranches on their balance sheets, thus wiping billions of dollars of their balance sheets too. However whilst it is true that the bankers over zealous nature and thirst to maximise profits lead to the breaching of standards and forfeit of reliable credit checks, they were still allowed to do it. This leads to the plausible involvement of the credit rating agencies and the Governments lack of regulation and in some cases irresponsible regulation. A major concern surrounds the actions of US credit rating agencies, namely Standard Poor and Fitch. Whilst they may not have anticipated the financial crisis, they, to a large extend suffered from institutional failure. The mathematical models that had been developed and used by the credit rating agencies were inadequate to deal with and provide accurate data concerning the riskiness of sub prime mortgages. The mathematical modelling teams continued to use traditional out-dated 30 year mortgages to asses the likelihood of default. Mortgages issued after 2004 were based on a different credit rating tool, know as FICO. Comparison of Wilfred Owens Poem, Dulce Et Decorum Est...
Poetry used as a tool to emphasize the hideous nature of warfare War is a horrible concept and it is also responsible for inspiring people, considering the intense feelings that they experience as a result of observing it and the suffering that it generates. A series of artists have gotten actively involved in providing the masses with a more complex understanding of warfare and, in contrast to war propaganda artwork, most of these respective individuals focused on condemning the practice by relating to its terrible consequences. Wilfred Owens poem Dulce et Decorum Est successfully appeals to peoples emotions and influences them to want to get actively involved in stopping warfare from happening. Denise Levertovs Life at War similarly provides an intriguing look concerning war and its disastrous effects. These individuals basically want people to understand that there is nothing glorious about warfare and that it mainly involves suffering, blood, and young lives being lost for absurd purposes. One of the most notable differences between these two poets is that Owen experienced war from a first person perspective and actually died as a result of his partake in the First World War. Even with the fact that Levertov did not experience warfare directly, she was well-acquainted with suffering resulting from war and thus had little to no problems writing in regard to it. Owens poem is certainly disturbing and this is primarily owed to the fact that the story that he

Project Management Weekly Portfolio Learning
Question: Discuss about theProject Management Weekly Portfolio Learning. Answer: Weekly Portfolio Learning Table Topic and reading samples. Your personal learning outcomes from this course. Learnings from your experience. Supporting documentation including your prior learnings. LEGISLATION, STANDARDS, FRAMEWORKS, GUIDELINES, METHODOLOGIES. OPM is an important strategy that organizations can use, based on their unique circumstances, to improve the performance of their strategy delivery. An important lesson I gained from the course is that OPM is a methodology framework that can be used to connect the highest level vision and mission of an organization to hands-on projects execution. With OPM, organizations can manage programs, projects, and portfolios, in alignment with achievement of its strategic goals in a systematic manner. Further, I have learned that while project management focuses on process and efficiency, the OPM provides an even better framework that links strategy and project results as it combines project management, program management, and portfolio management and aligns them with organizational strategy and objectives. These practices are then fit to the organizations specific situation, context, and structure. I also learned how it benefits strategy execution for an organization Working as an intern in a retail organisation that sought to establish an e-commerce shop, I was part of the team to implement the strategy. I used elements of OPM and its tools to align the companys goals and objectives with the OPM framework and it helped us combine talent with the project management process and knowledge to meet the objective of a successful e-commerce presence I have understood the course reading requirement by reading Kerzners PMI Implementing Organizational PM Portfolio Reflection Usually, project managers use the project portfolio management process to evaluate the potential returns on a project; however, I have come to the realization that when OPM is incorporated into the portfolio, the core enabling processes of OPM added to input form the organization into the active organization portfolio creates a high level view of the entire portfolio. This helps create better forecasts and visualisation that top management and decision makers can evaluate; resulting in better selection for projects, as guided by the strategic plan of the organization and available resources. This was helpful when deciding which social media platform and e-commerce framework to use for the best results; forecasting helped with selection and resource utilization that created the greatest impact.
